[desktop-discuss] Tools that checks structural integrity of scripts?

Hi,

I have really made a booboo of myself in a recent putback,
in rarian-02-fix-sk-update.diff (on gnome-2-20 branch).

The problem was an additional 'fi' was added. What confused me then was:
The scripts behave differently when run as root or as non-root. I tested 
as running as
non-root, the behavior is the same as that found by Jim Walker. So I 
presume the fix was
correct, but I have not included a case of testing as root.  When run as 
root the
syntax error is reported.

Having a syntax highlight tool may have helped, any know of tools that 
do this?
