[desktop-discuss] gnome terminal work incorrectly on ¨, `and ~ symbols

Hi, I`ve first encountered this problem - on gnome terminal i have to press corresponding key twice (shift + twice ´ to get ¨) to get mentioned symbols. It`s not right, since I cannot use applications (Ctrl+a, ¨ to get list of screens, find / -name ¨filename¨). 

Just running xterm doesn`t help much.

On WinXP through rdesktop everything works nice.

Any suggestions?

PS - I have tried to change keyboard with no positive effect.
