Hi,

please add the necessary entries to the GRUB menu so that GRUB either 
uses the serial console or the VGA console

I think these entries are:

serial --unit=0 --speed=9600 --word=8 --stop=1 --parity=no
terminal --timeout=15 console serial

Note: Unfortunately the entry  splashimage can not be used on a serial 
console
