Another (nice ;-) idea might be the one to build a java "fat client" to administer via shell commands the zfs filesystem. It can be used in the "normal" opensolaris distribution "control panel" for the "local" machine or executing commands via ssh to an EON headless fileserver.
(Java ensures that it can be executed from every remote SO)
