(there are still a few inaccuracies but we'll fix those in the next
update)
if you do a prtconf -D, you should see a storage node with driver scsa2usb.
if you don't see that then there is an enumeration problem. There should
be a warning in the messages file.
Make sure that the port really works. Insert a keyboard or mouse cable
and check that you see the device with prtconf and in messages file
Also check that there is an entry for scsa2usb in /etc/name_to_major and
/etc/driver_aliasses
If all this fails, we really need your prtconf -Dv output
and messages file.
