I've been trying to subscribe to the S390 list at LISTSERV at vm.marist.edu without success in a week, http://opensolaris.org/os/project/systemz/ wasn't updated in months and documentation is sparse at best. Even trying to find hardware is impossible. WTF is going on? I've updated the "Discussions" page of the System z section to describe subscription to the mailing list you are after. Finding hardware will be hard if you are not an existing user of System z. We are trying to fix this by enhancing the "Hercules" emulator to understand the hypervisor hooks exploited by OpenSolaris in the System z environment. However, this will not be a quick process. This occurred due to a communications problem on our part when we originally set up the projects on opensolaris.org and had no other basis. As background, both projects came to opensolaris.org as code drops from outside companies, and Sun had no input either in the scope of each port or in the selection of target processors or platforms. However, we ARE grateful to these companies for graciously donating their code to the OpenSolaris community and that their code is fully covered by the CDDL. This is a good first step for both of these projects and will help grow the OpenSolaris community in new ways. We will work to document both projects so that their histories and intents are clear. We are also working with Jim Grisanzio to review the project setup processes and to update procedures as necessary to ensure this type of situation does not recur. We apologize for any offense or undue concern the creation/endorsement of these projects may have caused within the OpenSolaris community.
