[ha-clusters-discuss] Cluster 3.2 SUNW.LogicalHostname deprecated? bug?

I wish it was that easy. It is an oracle application query to an LDAP server.

Ive done some poking around and found /usr/cluster/lib/cmass/ipmpgroupmanager.sh

# Test address is related to IPMP Group configuration. It is a logical
# interface with flags deprecated and -failover set. It is used for health
# monitoring of the physical interface and trigger a failover when a failure
# is detected.
#

I think this script is used during the initial setup of cluster, but it does say that the test ip address should be set as deprecated and -failover. So cluster is *sort* of using ipmp? since it is setting my real IP as -failover but not deprecated and the my virtual ip as deprecated.

I did try setting my real IP as deprecated and then evacuating my application. unfortunatly it still set the virtual as deprecated. (I was hoping it was only setting it as deprecated if it didnt find a another interface that was set as deprecated)

My thanks for the reponses so far .. it is helping me wrap my head around how this is working, but I am still not seeing the reasoning behind the way it configures the logical hostname. Its not like I am trying to do this on the interconnects, just the network adapters used for the application.
