If you haven't tried it lately, you may not believe that smc is much faster
today. Personally, I don't use it much, but your complaint was that it did
not exist, not that it existed and was too slow for your taste. Should
we continue to improve it, or start from scratch is a different discussion.
At this point I usually point out that webmin is there, too, but that is
another rat-hole conversation.
I'll drag this on a bit because the point is that Solaris is *full* of
useful stuff that nobody knows about. So before you complain that something
doesn't exist, please check to be sure. A pet peeve of mine is that for a
very, very long time Sun's engineers were encouraged to hide stuff from
customers. This led to the belief that things didn't exist. The truth is
that it was just a dumb idea to hide things -- and other OSes are not
similarly afflicted. So, if Indiana does nothing but shed light in the
crevices, then I'll be happy :-)

Well, believe it or not, there is a GUI manager for ZFS. It uses the
web console (see wcadmin(1m)) which is the next greatest systems management
interface for Solaris :-/
https://localhost:6789
Whether or not it satisfies is subject to interpretation, though.
