Indiana was specifically billed as approaching our not yet users.

The issue for Solaris.next is clear, don't alienate existing users.

As for overstating the case, perhaps. But the consistent feedback  
I've gotten for *years* of engagements is that our userland is a  
major stumbling block for those accustomed to Linux.

Having using both, I can see their point. SysV never had the  
mindshare that BSD *or* Linux has (in different eras). I appreciate  
why we can't break existing Solaris installs, but someone  
specifically choosing a thing with a different name have sold us a  
clue that they will have different expectations.
