this is the *wrong* place for this discussion.

feel free to drop me a note and I can perhaps help you out, I used modems on
Solaris for about a decade and even though it has been a while I am sure
that asppp or ppp with chap auth etc etc still works the same as it alwasy
has.

real stable too and ssh with compression is fairly useful also .. been there
done that a million times ( years ago ).

so ... not here okay ?
