Right, as someone migrating from Linux, I'm prepared to make the  
mental effort to learn new tools *only* as they are necessary to the  
effective operation of the system.  Different kernel, different  
performance  tools, fair enough (although a migration guide along the  
lines of "How to do what you used to do with top and vmstat and  
netstat and ps" would be nice).  Where there is *zero* value add, and  
tremendous irritation, is forcing me to do any thinking or adjusting  
to be able to use my shell and tar and ssh and python and perl and  
ruby and PHP and so on.  The only PATH adjustment that seems  
reasonable is adding /usr/local if I have to compile the latest Ruby  
or whatever. -Tim
