Getting developers and sys admins to use OpenSolaris as their primary
desktop. <- That's my take (though I could be wrong) of what the
primary near and medium term goal is mainly about here.

However, in general I agree. To my knowledge, of all the existing and
potential Solaris/OpenSolaris users in the world, only a small minority
will be/are total non-Linux users.
