To create an OpenSolaris "distro" simply combine some of the best of
now.
OpenSolaris could be available as a completely customizable (see Fedora
Spins
http://docs.fedoraproject.org/release-notes/f7/en_US/sn-OverView.html#sn-Spins )
Using the openSUSE build service http://en.opensuse.org/Build_Service
instead of depending on one distribution to provide packages.
Each spin could be community created from a base OpenSolaris core.
Everyone could start making their own spins and thus, the OpenSolaris
distro wars can begin. One of the biggest problems with GNU/Linux
distributions as of late is some hardware, patches, application
versions, and dependencies working in one distro then not working in
another. Hardly anyone is communicating upstream and inter-distro in the
community. By using the build service a centralized management of these
issues can be maintained.
