+1, I really agree with that concept, and in hopes of helping to bring
focus to it, I began a "Solaris ports clearinghouse" project a while back.
Aka the OpenSolaris Build Recipes Reference:

There are now 608 apps represented (and counting I haven't
updated it in a few weeks).
