This is the heart of the matter put far better than I can.

Regardless of some people being annoyed by there not being a
distribution called OpenSolaris, I think that it is rather late in the
life of this community to start now.

Stephen also makes a good point. If you call the distribution
OpenSolaris, then automatically, by association, any project that is
on OpenSolaris.org will be expected to be part of it as well.

It will especially begin to be confusing if a new distribution called
"OpenSolaris" begins radically differing from Solaris. I believe there
are certain expectations people have from things that have "Solaris"
in their name.
