My feeling is that anything aiming for status as a 'reference' of any kind 
has to be available on all of the platforms we support.  While it may be 
practical to do them one at a time (I suspect it isn't, but I've been wrong 
before), I can't see a way they could not support sparc but still hold to 
their other goals.

I agree, though, that their description of themselves should make this clear.
