I don't know since I've never used Conary, but I don't believe it does 
that.  What you bring up is an interesting idea, though, and not one 
that *I've* seen in any existing package management solutions.  In fact, 
I can't even come up with a good way to describe this; it'd be almost a 
meta-package-manager, but it would be able to produce packages that were 
usable by itself, in addition to the other output formats it could 
produce.  Or am I misunderstanding you?
