To somebody coming to OpenSolaris from Linux, a different package
manager is the least of their problems:)

But if the wheel in general use is square then maybe we should look
further... I'm not saying that the distribution should have it's own
Package system developed, but there is a lot of work going on on
alternative new systems that should be looked at.

For example, desktop users want access to multimedia applications, a
number of which need to be installed from mercurial/subversion - how
well do the legacy Package systems deal with that?
