Personally, I'd be strongly opposed if the actual distro name were decided
by fiat rather than collaboratively -- even for an alpha release.
So to me, Indiana is the project name.

I think everyone agrees that if the OpenSolaris Community and Sun can
hammer out an agreement on using the word OpenSolaris for this effort, it
would simply be called. "The OpenSolaris Distro".
Though I also like the point you're making too. Having a catchy name is a
good thing for spreading awareness.
Then I suppose the download link would say something like:
FooBar, The OpenSolaris Distro.
