IIRC Nimbus was conceived as a uniform L&F for *Sun* products, so  
it's more appropriate to use in Solaris builds than in Indiana  
builds.  I agree it might have been nice to keep more of the JDS  
layout, though-- right now it's neither one thing nor the other (JDS  
nor vanilla GNOME).
