Thanks for the reply. So the LiveCD has no binary blobs, that's why no
ethernet drivers, etc. Makes sense.

Yeah, but if I am to compare the performance[1] of Solaris versus OSX
and eventually migrate to Solaris, it you be nice to have it running
on the actual metal and not in some virtual machine[2].
I assume the demographic for Indiana are individual developers/users
which means imho laptops (mostly) and workstations. So it would be
nice if you could afford a pool of machines to test releases onto
(changing hardware and all). I also couldn't find a hardware
compatibility list (only for Solaris 10 on Sun's site, which keeps
harassing me to buy solaris subscription in order to see the actual
support status).

1. Mostly Java (NetBeans/Glassfish/Maven/JavaDB) with the normal
email/browser/gui checks.
2. I personally see virtual machines as something useful for legacy
systems nothing more feature or performance wise.
