There is a process to contribute to SFW, though right now I can't find
a good summary anywhere on opensolaris.org site. Here is a link to
the CCD process, it's about the same so it gives you a good idea:

Unfortunately your 5 minute estimate is a bit off; I'm afraid you'd be
looking at more like 6-8 weeks by the time all the paperwork is pushed

Getting this down to somewhere a lot closer to your 5 minute estimate
is something I'm pushing for, surely we'll inevitably get there sooner
or later, but I don't know when. (With IPS, hopefully Real Soon Now).
