I discussed changing the "USB image" term to "Removable Media" or
"Flash Media" with Karen Tung and Dave Miner. The USB image
is used in our documents as the output of the Distribution Constructor.
Here is Dave's reply:

The USB image theoretically would work in other types of flash
memory devices, but OpenSolaris generally has limited ability to
use those other types because of lack of driver support for the
common
chip sets. Compact Flash might work, if anyone has a system with CF
slot and media to try it on; I believe that an SD driver is in
the works so
there's some chance that may work someday. I don't believe any
of the
      others are likely to.

Therefore I'm keeping "USB image" and adding a note regarding other
devices.

USB image:
A collection of software that comprises an entire operating
system in a single file. The image that can be copied to a USB
flash drive. The USB image is a bootable image and is usable for
installation and other purposes. Note: The Distribution Constructor
outputs a USB image that might work in other types of flash memory
devices, but due to lack of driver support in Open Solaris, other devices
are unlikely to work.

Thanks,
Lynne
