I've always found Ubuntu's use of artful nudes to be a little corny;
whoever designed the branding strategy apparently didn't consider the
reaction that someone .... slightly silly .... would have to it.
"So, this is a desktop you can only use naked, right?"

Now, more seriously...
I wonder how those early desktop images and CD sleeves went over in
international markets. *I* think they're tasteful and "arty" - in a few
countries that I can think of, I would think they would not go over well
*at all*.
