[indiana-discuss] Indiana desktop UI spec - 2nd draft

So, we've absorbed all the feedback so far, and the main area of
indecision seems to be the default panel layout. (Well, that and
whether Evo or Thunderbird should be the default mailer, but TBH
that's a separate discussion-- the UI spec will just have to follow
whatever decision marketing or whoever make there.)
While this divergence of opinion suggests it might be ideal to let the
user choose which panel layout they want at first login, with the May
release fast approaching it's possible that time will be against us to
add that feature, and that we'll just have to pick the best default we
can this time.
As I've said before, there are various reasons why 'voting' on UI
features isn't generally a good idea, but in the interests of getting
to a decision as quickly as possible, I'm going to make an exception
here :) So check out the updated draft UI spec at <http://opensolaris.org/os/community/desktop/uispecs/indiana-uispec
>, and let us know which of the four proposed layouts you prefer via <http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=BNAw5MLN3oPLvVaivMXU4w_3d_3d
>.
I can't promise that we'll *definitely* pick the layout that gets the
most votes, but the results will certainly be factored into the final
decision. Please vote by midnight UTC Monday 7th April, and I'll post
the results on Tuesday.
Cheeri,
Calum.
