Thanks for that Alan.... I had already tried SUNWxorg-headers (should have mentioned that in the last post), but it did no good. installing FSWxorg-headers did the trick. Now I have mpeg2dec-0.4.1 installed clean.
Unfortunately the other components seem to need a newer version of Glib and Gstreamer (see below) so i am off source hunting to recompile those.
