So I have been running an indyp2 machine as a samba server for a week or so, no issues. One night I was showing a friend a slideshow of pictures off one of the shares and it locked up. I didnt think anything of it till i went to chk the samba machine the next day. It was locked up and i had to power it off. Now all i get when i try to boot it is :-

Grub loading stage 2

and then it drops to the grub cli

grub>

I can see the boot disks in the cmos. but i cant manually load the kernel. this is what happens when i try :-

grub> bootfs zpl_slim/root3
grub>
grub> kernel$ /platform/i86pc/kernel/$ISADIR/unix -B $ZFS-BOOTFS
loading '/platform/i86pc/kernel/$ISADIR/unix -B $ZFS-BOOTFS' ...
cpu: 'GenuineIntel' family 6 model 15 step 13
[BIOS accepted mixed-mode target setting!]
Error 17: Cannot mount selected partition

I know next to nothing about grub. What is the next step to diagnosing this problem?

I looked through the available commands but nothing jumped out at me as a device discovery/report command (or a parted type command).

Any help appreciated
