I can't answer the first one, but since over in the OpenSolaris Web 
Stack project the team has added modern apache2, mod_perl and MySQL 
Community Edition, we're covered on the second item.  Have a look at 
some of the info over in opensolaris.org/os/project/webstack for more info.

Since I believe the plan is for the next Indiana to be based upon a 
release post snv_79, it should therefore have all of this functionality 
out of the box (or more accurately, off of the repository) as well.
