When I was doing development some million years ago _any_ code change, compiler change or whatever change meant a new version number. A change of timestamp could only mean a recompile at a later time with _exactly_ the same input. But I guess the times they are a changing...

Think this nights discussion has cleared out a whole lot about the pkg command. So the only thing I have left to ask at the moment is; How do I downgrade my SUNWipkg-xxx-91 to .86 (latest timestampI)?
