  You can currently run a pkg.depotd instance pointing at a repository
  tree on a CD/DVD/USB/alternate filesystem.  That's generally how I get
  weird drivers onto laptops now.  Whether we need the cataloguing
  aspect...  more understanding of how people end up using that feature
  is probably needed.
