[indiana-discuss] VMWare User Tips

VMWare seems to use e1000g0 by default. I had a lot of problem trying to
install OpenOffice via IPS before, and magically did that successfully
by this "pfexec ifconfig e1000g0 mtu 576".
I also discover a tip for VMWare users. In VMWare, OS 2008.05 detects a
very large screen (this is the same for many Linux distributions, such
as Ubuntu). However, you can put these two lines in your .vmx files:
svga.maxWidth=1024
svga.maxHeight=768
Then everything works! Of course you can set the maxWidth and maxHeight
to whatever number that fits your monitor.
There is one thing I don't quite understand. I am using VMWare Fusion on
a MacBook Pro. Everytime I start up OS 2008.05, I have to wait for 3+
minutes to see the login screen. I have 4 GB memory on my MacBook Pro,
and allocate 2 GB for OS 2008.05.
