The instructions in the posting are corrupt (mainly the at signs changed to " at ").  Here's a correct (uncorrupted) announcement:

The upgrade worked. After reinstalling OpenSolaris 2008.05, I upgraded from OpenSolaris 2008.05 (Nevada 86) to Nevada build 93 by following the instructions above.  Thanks!

P.S., it's still very bad that a upgrade not only fails, but corrupts the original BE image, but at least I have a workaround now.
