"gnu chmod doesn't work on zfs"?  This is news to me.  Is there any documentation?  Thanks.

Also--this is related to the original comment--since /usr/gnu/bin is the first entry in the default PATH, how come the awk in OpenSolaris is different from gawk?  This has caused problems in trying to compile certain packages.
