Hi,
I've used nevada builds for a couple of years, and for a month ago, I scratched my ACER ferrari 5005 w/4G RAM and ATI radeon mobility X1600 graphicscard and installed
2008.05.
The latest days I've done several tries in updating this.
YES; I've read all there is to read....:) ( I think)
Everything looks fine, here is what I'm doing:
1) install 2008.05 from scratch, afterbackup: ( zfs send -> my home to an USB disk)
2) esm at esmpc:~$ beadm list
BE Active Active on Mountpoint Space
Name reboot Used
---- --------- -----
opensolaris yes yes legacy 2.33G
3)
esm at esmpc:~$ pfexec pkg image-update
DOWNLOAD PKGS FILES XFER (MB)
Completed 533/533 13882/13882 1172.63/1172.63
PHASE ACTIONS
Removal Phase 3109/3109
Update Phase 13792/13792
Install Phase 5837/5837
A clone of opensolaris exists and has been updated and activated. On next boot the Boot Environment opensolaris-1 will be mounted on '/'. Reboot when ready to switch to this updated BE.
4)
esm at esmpc:~$
esm at esmpc:~$ beadm list
BE Active Active on Mountpoint Space
Name reboot Used
---- --------- -----
opensolaris-1 no yes - 3.65G
opensolaris yes no legacy 590.5K
5)
esm at esmpc:~$ pfexec mount -F zfs rpool/ROOT/opensolaris-1 /mnt
esm at esmpc:~$ pfexec /mnt/boot/solaris/bin/update_grub -R /mnt
Creating GRUB menu in /mnt
Installing grub on /dev/rdsk/c4d0s0
stage1 written to partition 0 sector 0 (abs 16065)
stage2 written to partition 0, 264 sectors starting at 50 (abs 16115)
esm at esmpc:~$
6)
$pfexec init 6
NOW; the laptop reboots, and comes up with 3 entries in grub.
1 - my old 2008.05
2 - opensolaris-1
3 - Opensolaris 2008.11 blablabla (THIS IS DEFAULT)
then it goes on, and boots kernel b90, 64bit
fine..
But it stops right after:
Mounting ZFS filesystems (8/8)
And the odd thing is that some of the text is missing.
on that line, I can only see spaces where "filesyst" should be
the same on 3 of the previous lines.
Have anyone seen anything like this ?????
I think this is what I saw when I tried to live-upgrade
nevada b85 to nevada b87 as well, but then I thought it could be
because I had LU'ed about 20 times...and then I went for 2008.05
Any suggestions?
looks like I'm stuck with B86...
