Because of the time-out problem that I am having with IPS (I was trying to re-load thunderbird--a long story), my `beadm list` result looks like follows:

Every time I tried to install something from IPS, OpenSolaris/ZFS created a new boot option.  In this example, I failed about a couple of dozen times with IPS, OpenSolaris/ZFS faithfully also created a couple of dozen boot options.  But do I mind?  Not at all.  Not at all.  I don't think this needs explanation.  But the point is, when my every effort failed to re-install thunderbird, I was able to boot back into the state before thunderbird was deleted, without I actually doing anything.

Or, better yet, since I was having problems with the updated thunderbird, which prompted me to un-install and try to re-install thunderbird in the first place, I was able to boot back into the original version of OpenSolaris, happily checking and sending out mails now--and forget about all the updates.

What's more amazing is that OpenSolaris/ZFS actually keeps a copy of the user files associated with this original version of thunderbird (with a time stamp b/f the update).

For ordinary mortals like me who are always paranoid about making a stupid mistake that will screw up our computers and put us into the never-never land.  This is the best feature anyone can ever hope to have. :-)
