Strangely, if I disable the switcher altogether, I can't use the compose
key on my keyboard at all to compose special characters even though I'm
in a UTF-8 locale that supports them in its default character set. I
can't tell if this is a bug, or another interesting "feature".
In any case, your suggestion is in-line with the suggestion I made in
6612087, but slightly different. I suggested not having a hotkey for
"latin mode" by default. People who need to switch often between these
modes can create a hotkey for it in the input switcher preferences.
