You should not need to modify /etc/nsswitch.conf by hand if your DHCP 
server supplied DNS parameters and NWAM is operating correctly. 
However, many of us periodically see NWAM fail to properly update 
nsswitch.conf, there are several bugs already filed in bugzilla about 
this.  I continue to hope that someone from the NWAM team will pick it 
up and investigate...
