Hi Peter.

For the sound, did you try the OSS sound drivers?  My audio doesn't work with OpenSolaris 2008.05 by default, but the OSS drivers worked.

Note:  Even though your live CD volume control will still look like the drivers didn't work, if you follow the documentation to test the sound it should work.  Of course, if you do this on a regular hard drive install, a reboot makes this paragraph unnecessary.
