Hi Lurie,

I agreed with Liauh that Ctrl-space is the universal default for 
activating IM in the Microsoft domain. That was the case since the age 
of DOS 6.0 and Windows 3.1 (when I was in college) and so forth. IDEA, 
Eclipse, NetBeans and JDeveloper did not exist yet at that time. Today, 
if you are using a unicode locale, you will by default trigger IM via 
Ctrl-space on Windows, Linux, FreeBSD, Mac, AND Solaris.
