Thanks for the heads up, glad that after upgrade, the default nv
driver picked is working for Toshiba Tecra M2 with above chip.
Running glxgear with the default driver gives:
$ /usr/X/demo/glxgears
1050 frames in 5.3 seconds = 199.835 FPS
1040 frames in 5.2 seconds = 199.914 FPS
1040 frames in 5.2 seconds = 199.829 FPS
960 frames in 5.2 seconds = 185.586 FPS
X connection to :0.0 broken (explicit kill or server shutdown).
With 173.14.12 driver download, glxgear is of course much berrter,
$ /usr/X/demo/glxgears
10819 frames in 5.0 seconds = 2163.690 FPS
10928 frames in 5.0 seconds = 2185.500 FPS
9924 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1984.567 FPS
5866 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1173.130 FPS
X connection to :0.0 broken (explicit kill or server shutdown).
Also with the benefit of 'NVidia X Server Settings' Tool, I know I
would appreciate that we can bring back the NVidia driver support on
those legacy hardware. Maybe with a different package name or support
them in the new driver. Any ideas?
Cheers,
Henry
