The focus of Indiana is to attract new developers. This means
OpenSolaris distro must be redistributable, easy to install and
maintain. SXCE builds still have a lot of closed source (dt*), video
drivers etc.
It is also hard to install and update. With this is mind, the areas
which are being actively worked on for OpenSolaris are: Install,
packaging and ease of use. In 2008.11, a prototype for automated
install (i.e. jumpstart replacement) be available. While most of the
work has been focused on x86/amd64, automated installer for sparc will
be available next year.
