Apologize that I forgot to comment on your proposed workaround, which involves setting the SAL_DISABLE_FC_SUBST parameter to 0.

A big caveat.

Yes, it works on this specific font display problem, but as you have pre-warned, there are MAJOR side-effects with this workaround.

Since OpenSolaris does not have a bunch of fonts, and it cannot include proprietary fonts, when this workaround is applied, I almost couldn't import ANY document (especially those generated in Windows).   Please see the following screenshot:

Again, thanks for your timely efforts, but I don't think this is the right workaround.
