[indiana-discuss] 2 issues with build 101a

All,

on my U40 at home, I created and upgraded a BE to 101a, according to the
time-tested instructions here
(http://opensolaris.org/os/project/indiana/resources/rn3/image-update/).
When I booted into the new BE, I got this warning:

en_US.UTF-8: unknown locale.

and several occurrences of "unable to set locale" or sth like that.

And then it hung at the console login without accepting any input.

I rebooted into a previous BE, "beadm mount"ed the new BE and intended to
fix /etc/TIMEZONE thus:

#LANG=en_US.UTF-8
LANG=C

but upon reboot into the new BE, I find that it has grown another line:

#LANG=en_US.UTF-8
LANG=C
LANG=en_US.UTF-8

- obviously, I can now log in, so the console-login hang is gone. Another
interesting thing that happened, though, when I tried to log into Gnome, I
got a popup window telling me
	Install problem: config defaults for GNOME power manager have not
	been installed correctly
and that's it, the desktop is unusable.
happily, KDE 4.1 has no trouble here :-)
