This sounds like a usability bug. Characters that are expected to be allowed in a name field (like slashes, dashes, underscores, spaces, etc.) are not allowed here.

Assuming the allowed characters can't be changed, there should be a text label on the "Manage Repositories" dialog indicating which characters are allowed in the "Name" field.

Or perhaps change the "Add" button so that it is not grayed out, but instead is clickable when any text is in the name field and URL field. The validation can be done when the button is clicked and then a dialog box can be shown telling the user what the allowed characters are.

I'll file a bug.
