DHCP seemed to work fine, got an address from my DSL router (the DHCP server), my system was on the internet, but there was no name service. That's just silly. So I had to go and copy the /etc/resolv.conf file from my Linux box, and then copy /etc/nsswitch.dns ot /etc/nsswitch.conf. Trivial for somebody who has been using Unix for a long time. A newbie is just going to wonder why their web browser isn't working.

I'd have to agree with David here. My initial experience with nwam can
only be described in words not fit to be printed. In particular, it
seemed to always want to connect using my wireless connection instead of
my wired connection or vice versa.
Since build 95, it's "just worked" -- exactly the way I expect.
If I turn on my laptop with a wired connection plugged in, usually an
address has already been dhcp assigned to my wired connection and I have
network access.
Likewise, if I startup my laptop without a wired connection, almost
immediately after login I usually get a dialog about it being assigned
an address or asking me which wireless network I want to connect to.
It has come a long way since the initial version...
Cheers,
