Hi Gilles,

Thanks for those details. That enabled me to successfully build pidgin. 

However my question was more targeted at finding out if the process I was following is the correct process to build ANY tool from its spec file. It seemed to me that there was a piece of the puzzle missing in my attempt at building software using pkgtool. It seems like pkgtool is not interpreting the spec file properly. 

Can anyone shed any light on this? Should I be asking in a different forum?
