Re OOO problem, the following are the "error messages" when I tried to run swriter after installation:

./soffice[78]: /opt/openoffice.org3/program/../basis-link/ure-link/bin/javaldx: ../basis-link/ure-link/bin/javaldx: cannot execute [Invalid argument]
./soffice[124]: /opt/openoffice.org3/program/../basis-link/program/pagein: ../basis-link/program/pagein: cannot execute [Invalid argument]
./soffice: line 132: soffice.bin: cannot execute [Invalid argument]

This problem is very reproducible.

BTW, the installation was awfully slow (more than half an hour; typically it would have taken less than a couple of minutes).

The "unknown hosts" problem refers to the warning message about "unqualified hostname" or something like that during system initial boot-up.
