Looking at your screenshot http://tinyurl.com/solzh4, the string display appears
to screw up with "m" most noticeably. I am suspecting you are picking up
proportional fonts for a terminal. Can you check the font setting in
gnome-terminal profile?

There is another thread in i18n-discuss mailing list about the directory
name changes. I personally think the names should not be changed by
just changing the log-in locale. Your test case is a good one to test.
I'll test on that one too.

I see a number of posting on IIIM.
There are some important bug fixes went in recently. I think it is best to use
bug database to track these issues as that will help us to be clear about what is an
open bug and what is resolved. Are you referring to an issue you reported before?

Regarding the garbled display,, please see my comment above. I don't see
terminal window screwed up on my system, and I think resetting the font for
gnome-terminal would solve the issue. If not, please let me know the
setting you have.
