Because you already know you can just "enjoy" a user-friendly installer.
In case something goes wrong you know which side of the system you have to tinker with.

In my opinion a really user-friendly installer is one that is console based _and_ explains the user every step in the installation.
This "teach me" mode should be an option which is enabled on default but could be disabled on wish.
With a console based installer the user is able to install to weak systems, also.
Don't forget the many, many cases where users try to install Ubuntu - I am using this distro as an example because I think this is the ideal which Indian tries to follow - an weak systems and are not successful, which the Ubuntu project brought to the idea to release a second version with just the console based installer.

Do you want to make two or three or even up to five versions (flashy installer, console based installer, flashy+Gnome , console based+Gnome, flashy+KDE, console based+KDE etc. etc. etc.) just as the Ubuntu project does?
Don't forget that the most steps for Indiana release are on the shoulders of SUN.
The second and third versions of the Ubuntu releases (for example the Kubuntu things) are "outsourced" - to use a business term here - to the comunity.

Make it easier for you (and also for the user): Make one very verbose installer on console which also makes the user stronger.

Here goes my "constructive" side of my criticism: If the Indiana people want it, I can specify the steps for an console based very verbose (whereby this verbose mode can be disabled) installer for you.
You can then go on for the implementation - I can help out where I can -.
