Can you share with us what you know regarding the maintenance of the 
/release branch? Is the statement from the support FAQ that "security 
and device driver fixes" will be made available for free still valid, 
will this definitely be provided at some point in the future?

IMO the /release branch is currently such a bad shape that the numerous 
vulnerabilities (Firefox, OpenSSL, BIND, NFS from the top of my head) 
forbid any serious use of it.
